Walk in Nature therapy
We spend so much time sitting in front of screens or driving to and from work that we need to schedule time in nature, under wide skies, moving at our own speed. Having a therapy session outside in a beautiful natural environment promotes both mental and physical health, allows us to think about our lives in different ways and connect with ourselves in a deep and beneficial way.
Walking is an excellent way of getting our mind working, our emotions released and our thoughts brought into focus.
Walk and talk therapy is part of the Eco-Therapy movement. It is well known that being out in nature reduces our feelings of stress, anxiety and depression, and that the physical exercise of walking benefits our health in both mind and body.
The speed, distance and terrain of the walk is dependant on the needs of the client, with many footpaths in the area that cater for all abilities, including wheel chair access paths.
As the counsellor I fulfil the same role I would in a therapy room, encouraging, listening and supporting my client, as well as maintaining the confidential, safe and private environment required for therapy outside.
Locations I offer Walk in Nature therapy in include the Avalon Marshes https://avalonmarshes.org/
...and the Glastonbury Trail https://glastonburyinformationcentre.co.uk/the-glastonbury-way/
